19-Day Event Draws Multitudes to Pay Respects to Computer-Programming Saint
Assisi, Italy - Over 41,000 people flocked to the tomb of Bl. Carlo Acutis during the 19-day celebration of the Italian teenager's beatification, according to the Diocese of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino.
The remains of Bl. Acutis, known for his love of computer programming and his dedication to helping the poor and marginalized, were exhumed and placed in a new tomb in the Sanctuary of the Spoliation, where they will be permanently interred. The public had the opportunity to venerate the tomb from October 1 to October 19, 2020.
The beatification celebration, which culminated in Bl. Acutis being declared blessed by Pope Francis on October 10, 2020, drew visitors from all over the world. Many came to pray for Bl. Acutis' intercession, to thank him for his help, or simply to be in the presence of the young saint.
