Pakistan Confirms its First Case of Mpox
Three Cases Detected in Pakistan
Pakistan's health ministry confirmed the first case of mpox virus in a patient who had returned from a Gulf country on Friday.
Days after the World Health Organization issued an alert about the mpox virus, Pakistan detected three cases, according to the health department in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
A 25-year-old Pakistani man was diagnosed with the infectious viral disease, once known as monkeypox, after recently returning from Saudi Arabia.
11 Cases Reported in Pakistan
Pakistan has found 11 cases in more than a year, with the latest infection confirmed on Aug. 13 in a 34-year-old male who arrived from Saudi Arabia.
Symptoms of Mpox
- Fever
- Headache
- Muscle aches
- Backache
- Swollen lymph nodes
- A rash that starts on the face and spreads to other parts of the body
